Alarming Percentage of Households Don't have a CO Alarm, Says APHC

The Association of Plumbing and Heating (APHC) have released shocking figures regarding the dangers of Carbon Monoxide (CO), in order to mark Gas Safety Week.

CEO of APHC, John Thompson, said, 'As the Plumbing and Heating industry's largest employer's trade association, we actively promote gas safety and we believe it is important that we support Gas Safety Week.

Our research found that 39%of Households don't have a CO Alarm fitted in their homes with another 34% having rooms that contain either gas, oil or solid fuel burning appliance that doesn't have a CO alarm".

APHC is veracious campaigners for the improvement of Gas Safety. The President of the association has recently asked for greater enforcement action in penalising those responsible for carrying out dangerous gas work. He has also called for further legislation banning these individuals from re-registering on the GAS Safe Register (GSR).

Gas Safety Week aims to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and CO poisoning.
